Il Dottor Stranamore: titoli alternativi

Dagli archivi di Stanley Kubrick è saltata fuori una paginetta in cui il regista annotava idee per dare un titolo al Dottor Stranamore, famoso film del 1964 liberamente ispirato al romanzo Allarme Rosso (Red Alert, 1958) di Peter George.

Già dai titoli si può intuire una certa differenza fra il romanzo e il film. Mentre il romanzo è molto serio, centrato sulla minaccia nucleare e sulla relativa facilità con cui la catastrofe può essere innescata, il film affronta lo stesso tema in modo semiserio, tanto da poter essere definito una commedia più che un film catastrofico o di fantapolitica.

L’elenco dei possibili titoli è curioso e stranamente non riporta quello che sarebbe poi diventato il titolo reale: Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (Il dottor Stranamore – Ovvero: come ho imparato a non preoccuparmi e ad amare la bomba).

È anche difficile immaginare a che cosa si riferissero alcuni titoli, come, per es. Dr. Strangelove’s Secret Uses of Uranus.
