Aimard – Bach

coverListen to Pierre-Laurent Aimard playing Bach, the Art of Fugue no less.

Oh my, nothing to say technically. I also like the sound, so clear, almost harpsichord-like (even the pedal is very limited). I'm just a little perplexed by the fact that now it seems he wants to play all available piano repertoire…

In any case, this is his first recording for DGG. I'd say, a challenging debut considering he's going to compete with people like Glenn Gould (who started it with a very slow metronome) or Sokolov.

In any case, Aimard relies on his technique and at first listening he doesn't seem to be out of place even in the most difficult passages. Then we'll see if it moves me…
