This page by photographer Lois Siegel is beautiful, full of images of stringed instruments and those who play them from a wide variety of eras and situations.
The little girl's object of admiration is the octobass, built in 1849 by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume.
About 4 meters tall, it had three strings tuned an octave below the double bass. The lowest string is a C, not an E, and vibrates at the fearsome frequency of 16.35 Hz. It's the C below the lowest A on a piano (which some pianos have).
