Google LIFE photo archive

Google is bringing LIFE Magazine's immense photo archive to the web. Two million images are already online, with another eight million on the way.

The archive covers a time span from the American Civil War to the present day, and almost all of its images are high-quality, high-resolution (click on this ancient boat on the Yangtze River).

The reference page is here, but Google intends to include the entire archive in its image search engine.
