Have you ever seen the eye of Botticelli's Venus so close? (click to enlarge)
Halta definizione (High definition) has placed some Uffizi masterpieces online in super high definition. The image is acquired digitally with a minimum optical resolution of 1500 pixels per inch, which means that in one square inch (2.54 cm2 = 6.4516 cm2) there are a minimum of 2,250,000 pixels (more than 2 megapixels).
In the end, each image has a total of approximately 28 billion pixels, about 3,000 times more than a standard camera.
