The Harmonics of Real Strings

john_lelyIn this composition by John Lely for solo cello, the performer plays a very long glissando on a single string, from the nut to the bridge, applying light pressure to obtain the harmonics, hence the title The Harmonics of Real Strings (2006/2013). On the CD released by Another Timbre, you can hear four versions of the piece, one for each string of the cello. The performer is Anton Lukoszevieze.

You can also find an interview with the composer on the same page. You can also listen to the violin and double bass versions on John Lely's Soundcloud page.
