That's how it would have been…
…if, instead of the United States, the Russians had won the race to the moon. But their project was too complex to prevail (e.g., a five-stage launch vehicle instead of three, with 30 small engines).
But from an aesthetic standpoint, there's no comparison. The Soviets' retro steampunk was priceless.
