The Microsoft Sound

I don't know if you knew this, but the Windows 95 startup sound was created by Brian Eno. I noticed it years ago when I opened the properties box.

But now I've found this juicy statement from Eno himself on wikipedia Italy In the English version, the entry "The Microsoft Sound" is missing.

Microsoft asked me this, telling me they wanted music that was inspiring, universal, optimistic, sexy, futuristic, sentimental, emotional, plus an almost endless list of about 150 other adjectives, and then finally they concluded that the song had to last three point twenty-five seconds. Since then, I've composed 84 of these little pieces, so when I return to work on three-minute pieces, they seem like oceans of time.
