Philippe Manoury is currently one of the most important French researchers and composers. Active for years in the field of electroacoustic music, in collaboration with Miller Puckette, he wrote some of the first works for instruments and processing performed entirely in real time (Jupiter, 1987 and Pluton, 1988, both included in the cycle Sonus ex Machina).
Here we present two excerpts from Neptune (op. 21, 1991) for three percussionists and electronics. The percussionists play two MIDI vibraphones, a tam-tam, and a marimba, and the scores are elaborated and counterpointed in real time.
