Edgar Froese died in Vienna on January 20, but the announcement was made only on the 23rd.
The only stable member of Tangerine Dream and at times even the only member tout court, in the sense that numerous releases under the name Tangerine Dream are actually solo works by Froese himself, he was the inspiration for the group's more experimental sounds, those of the first albums linked to the so-called Kosmische Musik of the 1970s, inspired on the one hand by psychedelia and on the other by minimal music and the instrumental compositions of Ligeti from the 1970s. ’60 from which the first Tangerine Dream drew heavily.
