This sound sculpture, designed by architects Anna Liu and Mike Tonkin (Tonkin Liu Ltd), is located in a remote location not far from the town of Burnley in northern England and is called The Singing Ringing Tree.
Completed in 2006, it is approximately 3 meters tall and made of galvanized steel pipes that, when blown by the wind, produce a choral sound spanning several octaves. The slightly dissonant sound is not accidental; some of the pipes have been drilled for tuning.
Furthermore, not all the pipes make sound. Many have only a structural or aesthetic function.
Here's a video where you can also listen to it.
