Six Japanese Gardens

Six short pieces for percussion and electronics by Kaija Saariaho. In each piece, the author develops a particular rhythmic aspect related to that specific musical material.

The instrumental sounds are enriched by natural sounds, ritual chants, and other percussive sounds performed by Japanese percussionist Shinti Ueno, recorded and modified by electronics.
