Between 1968 and 1972, Stewart Brand published, in paper form, The Whole Earth Catalog which was defined as
“a paper-based database offering thousands of hacks, tips, tools, suggestions, and possibilities for optimizing your life.”
It was a kind of Wikipedia ante litteram. A collection of articles on the most disparate topics, often written by personalities of the time: from William Burroughs to the Black Panther Party, from the poet Ferlinghetti to the architect Buckminster Fuller.
