Una
breve serie dedicata ai principali effetti, al loro utilizzo musicale e
alla loro implementazione via software.
I testi sono scritti per non-esperti. È consigliabile leggerli in serie.
On
Mr.
Fokke van Saane site you can find a valuable and useful collection
of Impulse Response files from different soundscapes, including real
ambient, buildings and even old effect machines. Unfortunately this
files are in MacIntosh raw format (no header) difficult to load on
common PC software.
So I have written a simple software called IRMACCONV (Impulse Response
Mac Converter) running on Linux and Windows to convert Fokke's
files to WAV.
This software is free. The Linux version is released under GPL (with
source). The Windows version is released under Creative Common (as
stated below) and the new, powerful concept of Beggar'sWare :-) (i.e.
donate if you like).
Installation and working instructions are included in the package
(see README file).
Many Thanks to Fokke for his IR page.
Thanks to Nicola Bernardini & Luca Richelli for suggestions and
help while trying to guess the original file format.
PLEASE NOTE: this is NOT
a general purpose converter. It is only useful to convert RAW 24bit big
endian mono files to PC WAV (16bit little endian mono).
PLEASE NOTE: the Fokke's
files are archived using Stuffit Expander (.sit). Sit is a MacIntosh
compressed archive (like .zip on win or tar.gz on Unix).
My program don't handle
the .sit file directly. You
must download the archive from Fokke's site and decompress first. A free Stuffit Expander for
Win or Linux can be easily found searching on Google (try "stuffit
expander windows"). PLEASE DON'T ASK ME FOR STUFFIT EXPANDER!
